What is Chickenpox?
Chickenpox is a herpes virus infection in which a patient develops extremely itchy fluid-filled blisters all over the body. It is a type of classic childhood diseases. Adults and older children usually get sicker than younger children. However, it has become much less common since the introduction of the chickenpox vaccine.
It is a communicable disease. Chickenpox can be spread very easily to others. The chickenpox rash occurs about 10 to 21 days after coming into contact with someone who had the disease. You may get chickenpox from touching the fluids from a chickenpox blister, or if someone with the disease coughs or sneezes near you. Even those with mild illness may be contagious.
Common Causes of ChickenPox
- Chickenpox is inducing by the varicella-zoster virus, a member of the herpes virus family.
- A person with chickenpox becomes contagious 1 to 2 days before their blisters appear.
- A child who has low immune system chances of chicken pox attack also increase.
- Chicken pox also available in your body with inhaling airborne droplets.
Symptoms of ChickenPox
Most children with chickenpox have the following symptoms before the rash appears:
- Fever
- Headache
- Stomach ache
After two to four days of virus attack rashes will be seen all over the patient body.The average child develops 250 to 500 small, itchy, fluid-filled blisters over red spots on the skin almost all over the body. Children with eczema may get thousands of blisters. At first blister are seen on the face, abdominal or head.
After a day or two, the blisters become cloudy and then formed scab, a hard coating on the skin formed during the wound healing reconstruction phase. That means new blister formed in a group. It often seen in the mouth, vagina, and on the eyelids
Dose & Don’t
At the time of treatment fallow those steps given bellow
- Avoid scratching or rubbing the blister, keep finger nail very short that it can’t scratch on the skin.
- Use cool and light weighed soft cotton cloth.
- Take lukewarm baths using little soap and rinse thoroughly.
- Take cornstarch bath.
- Apply a soothing moisturizer after bathing.
- Kept the patient in air-condition to maintain humidity and heat.
- Try over-the-counter oral antihistamines such as diphenhydramine (Benadryl),
- Try over-the-counter hydro-cortisone cream such as counter hydro-cortisone cream on itchy areas.
Precaution:
Anti viral medication is one of the best treatment of chicken pox but a child who suffer with unhealthy condition, the antiviral medication very harmful for health.
Don’t give aspirin and ibuprofen to someone who may have chickenpox. Use of aspirin may lids to a serious condition called Reyes syndrome. Ibuprofen has been liable for more severe secondary infections.
