Man is a warm blooded Animal. He has a built in
thermostat in his body that maintains his body temperature within a narrow
range (1 or 2 degrees of 98.6degree F) despite fluctuations in external
temperatures.
Sweating is the process by which our body maintains
its internal temperature. It helps to keep the body cool. They also sweat more
when they are nervous, under stress or exercising. Sweat glands produce
moisture that cools the skin as it evaporates. Humidity slows down and
decreases the effectiveness of sweating.
Therefore we are uncomfortable in hot
and humid weather, especially in coastal areas.
Common locations of sweat in the body are: under
arms, on the feet and on the palms of the hands. Sweating is more in women at
Menopause.
Today we will provide a package of suitable recipe
for sweating palms & feet.
- Chemical antiperspirant therapy
- Herbal antiperspirant therapy
- Iontophoresis
Chemical antiperspirant therapy:
Antiperspirant:
The
main ingredient in over-the-counter antiperspirants is aluminum chloride, however the amount of this chemical varies
depending on the strength of the product. Aluminum chloride is effective due to
its ability to block sweat glands from overproducing sweat.
Method: To
use an antiperspirant for sweaty palms, rub directly onto the palms after a
shower. The steam from a shower will open the pores within the hands, thus
allowing the antiperspirant to easily soak into the sweat glands. Similarly
immersed your feet into it.
This home remedy may also be used before going to
sleep at night. Generously apply the antiperspirant directly onto the palms and
allow it to completely dry before falling asleep.
Oil
treatment: Standard alcohol wipes are
ideal for sweaty palms & feet, as they can be discretely used and carried
at all times. The alcohol will instantly dry hands and begin to shrink pores
for better sweat and oil control.
Herbal treatment:
The best herbal remedy is tea with fennel seeds and peppermint paste. The active ingredient within tea is tannic acid. This acid works as an astringent, which will shrink sweat glands by removing excess moisture, and oil, from the skin. Tannic acid can be used as a natural alternative to the antiperspirant treatment, as it does not utilize aluminum chloride to prevent sweating.
The paste of fennel and peppermint leafs are used to get good essence.
Method: Begin this
treatment by bringing one quart of water to a boil. Place five regular tea bags
directly into the boiling water, cover and allow the tea to steep for 15
minutes. Remove the tea bags and place the freshly made tea into a container
that can comfortably hold both hands. Once the tea has cooled off, normally 10
minutes after the tea bags are removed, added the paste of fennel seeds and
peppermint, soak both hands and feet for 30 minutes. Repeat this process every
day, if needed, or three times per week to better control sweaty palms.
Iontophoresis:
In iontophoresis treatments, a
patient submerses the hands or feet in a tray of tap water for 15 to 40 minutes
at a time, several times a week. A low level current is applied to the water.
The current interacts with mineral particles in the water and, it is believed,
according to the International Hyperhidrosis Society, causes the outer layer of
skin to thicken. Eventually, the skin becomes so thick that it blocks sweat
flow. This cure is specifically indicated for sweating of the hands and feet.
While it can be used on other areas of the body, the International
Hyperhidrosis Society points out that it can cause irritation in other areas.
The treatment is generally safe, according to the Mayo Clinic, but it requires
repeated applications and may need a maintenance program.
